Steamed Shrimp


Shrimps in the shell


Place whole shrimp in a pot and add enough water to cover. Use a lid that will cover it tightly, but initially leave it lightly askew. Bring the water to a rolling boil and when steam is puffing from under the lid turn of the heat and clamp the lid down tight. Now using pot holders to hold the pot and lid, drain the pot by opening the lid ever so slightly and pouring the water into the sink. Close the lid again and let the shrimps sit in their own steam for 10 – 15 minutes. Do Not Peek Under the Lid. After the shrimps cool, peel and devein if necessary.
